Amanda Byram On Skincare

I am often asked about my skincare routine and the products I use on a daily basis, and I am a BIG believer that beautiful glowing skin, comes as much from what you put into your body as what you put onto your body. I also always use non-toxic, paraben-free, BPA-free products BPA, or Bisphenol A, is a type of plastic], as I feel that our skin is our biggest organ and we need to look after it.

I use Udo’s Choice to nourish my skin from within - feeding your skin the right nutrients can help avoid problem skin, especially as autumn approaches and skin begins to feel dryer. For healthy skin to thrive, essential fatty acids (EFA’s) omega 3 and 6 are vital in keeping our skin hydrated. Many people don’t realise that a lack or imbalance of EFAs can lead to dryness, redness, acne, or even eczema and psoriasis-like inflammatory skin conditions.

My other go to beauty products include REN, Weleda and Jäson, which are paraben free and really suit my skin. I use the REN One Minute Facial product which leaves my skin glowing and works with water activated Vitamin C. Jäson shampoos, conditioners and body lotions, and Weleda anti-perspirants, soaps and shampoos etc. My friend Gok Wan swears by E45 as a primer, he says it's inexpensive and works a treat!

I always enjoy keeping up with the latest skincare trends from London Fashion Week and I loved that Johnathon Saunders Spring/Summer 16 models were given ‘healthy, straight-from-the-gym skin’ by MAC Cosmetics make-up artist Val Garland and at Temperley London (above), models were “flushed a peachy-pink from dancing”. I hope this means, as an avid gym bunny myself I will hopefully be fully on trend next summer!

My essential beauty tips:

Quit sugar

I haven't really eaten sugar for a few years. But until I mostly gave up alcohol last year, I didn't really start seeing the effects. My skin is much healthier, and I really feel as though I stopped ageing a little! I feel healthier now in my 40s than I did in my 20’s!

Stay hydrated

I insist on drinking 3 litres of filtered water a day, we are made up of water, and we also ingest so many toxins through the environment that flushing them out is paramount for good skin and healthy cells.

Warm water and lemon

I start every day with warm water and lemon to wake up the digestive system and kick your day off with an alkaline hit. You wouldn't wake up with a splash of cold or boiling hot water? So treat your digestive system the same way!
